Azerbaijan resumes fiber optic cable imports from Slovenia

Azerbaijan imported 7,280 tons of fiber optic cables, valued at $27.42 million during the first nine months of 2024, Report informs, referring to the country's State Statistical Committee.

Compared to the corresponding period in 2023, the imports rose by 68 percent in volume and grew by 28 percent in value.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan purchased 4,280 tons (+99%) of fiber optic cables from China worth $13.6 million (+57%), 1,575 tons (+48%) from Türkiye worth $6 million (-0.01%), 842 tons (+15%) from Russia worth $4.42 million (+2.2%), 553 tons (+53%) from Belarus worth $2.81 million (+45%), 20 tons (+77 times) from Poland worth $141,100 (+7 times).

After a break of 5 years and 5 months, Azerbaijan resumed fiber optic cable supplies from Slovenia (0.01 tons worth $600).

Meanwhile, in 2023, Azerbaijan imported 5,650 tons of fiber optic cables from 36 countries in total, of which 50.5 percent fell to China.
