Azerbaijan refines 5.9 million tons of oil

Oil refining in Azerbaijan in 2020 amounted to 5.875 million tons, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Energy.

According to the information, oil refining in the country exceeded the forecast by 172,700 tons (3%).

SOCAR's Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery is the only oil refining complex in the region and provides most of Azerbaijan's fuel needs. The plant produces 15 types of oil products, including gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuel, fuel oil, petroleum coke, and so on.

The 2nd and 3rd stages of the modernization and reconstruction project are currently being implemented at SOCAR's Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, founded in 1953.
