Azerbaijan nearly quintuples solar power production

Azerbaijan produced 62.4 million kWh of solar power in January-March 2024, up 4.7 times from the previous year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

The output in the sector of electric power, gas, and steam production, distribution, and supply amounted to 888.3 million ($522.5 million) in the reporting period, down 5.2% from a year earlier.

Production in the water supply, waste treatment, and processing sectors has risen by 6.6%, settling at 130.6 million manats ($76.82 million).

Azerbaijan produced 6,681.9 million kWh of electricity in the reporting period, down 8.4% from the previous year. Of this, 6,458.7 million kWh were commercial electricity, 8.8% less than the last year.

The thermal power plants generated 5,953.3 million kWh of energy, down 12.2% from a year earlier.

The hydropower plants produced 428.9 million kWh of electricity, 58.4% more than a year ago.

Wind power production decreased by 7.8% to 14.1 million kWh.
