Azerbaijan mulls expanding energy co-op with North Macedonia

Azerbaijan discussed expanding energy cooperation with North Macedonia, Report informs referring to the Ministry of Energy.
This issue was discussed at a meeting between Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and a delegation led by Chairman of the Assembly of North Macedonia Afrim Gashi.
The meeting participants discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral relations, especially the possibilities for deepening cooperation in the energy sector. In this regard, it was emphasized that political and economic ties between Azerbaijan and North Macedonia have been developing in recent years, including cooperation in the energy sector.
Azerbaijan began supplying natural gas to North Macedonia in 2024, and the parties are interested in expanding this cooperation in the long term. During the meeting, the Azerbaijani side provided information on energy projects implemented with the EU and member states, including the Southern Gas Corridor, green energy corridors, and the development of renewable energy sources.
Azerbaijan's plans to increase the share of renewable energy in the country's installed energy capacity to 33% by 2027 and to 44% by 2035, as well as steps taken to export green energy to the European market, were discussed. In this context, the possibilities of supplying green energy (to North Macedonia) were also assessed.
