Azerbaijan announces volumes of methanol production

Azerbaijan produced 262,100 tons (-16.7%) of methanol (methyl alcohol) in January-July of this year. Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee.

As of August 1, 2023, the finished product made up 34,800 tons.

Methanol production is carried out at the Methanol Plant of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in the Garadagh district.

The methanol plant was commissioned in 2013. The plant has been operating under SOCAR Methanol LLC, a subsidiary of SOCAR, since 2016, and in August 2017, became the property of the company. The plant has the capacity to produce 650,000-700,000 tons of methanol per year. Natural gas and saltwater are used as raw materials in production.
