Azerbaijani energy minister invited to ministerial meeting of Gas Exporting Countries Forum

Azerbaijani Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov has been invited to the ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), which will take place on October 23 in Qatar, Report informs, citing the ministry.

According to the ministry's statement, Parviz Shahbazov met with GECF Secretary General Mohamed Hamel within the framework of the 9th OPEC International Seminar in Vienna.

During the meeting, there was an exchange of views on Azerbaijan's cooperation with the organization and the development of the global gas sector. The conversation highlighted the importance of GECF panels and pavilions at COP29, aimed at demonstrating the environmental benefits of natural gas, its recognition as an affordable, beneficial, and sustainable energy source, as well as technological achievements in decarbonization and creating conditions for dialogue and exchange of experience in this regard. Mohamed Hamel thanked Azerbaijan for supporting those initiatives.

Additionally, as part of the event, the minister met with OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al-Ghais. The meeting discussed the global oil market regulation, oil industry development trends, and cooperation issues in the OPEC+ format.

Azerbaijan and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) discussed the regulation of the global oil market, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said on X, Report informs.

"We held a meeting in Vienna with the Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Haitham Al Ghais. We discussed the regulation of the global oil market and cooperation with Azerbaijan," Shahbazov wrote on X.
