Alparslan Bayraktar: Agreement on Shafag-Asiman block will strengthen Türkiye's energy security

The agreement on the acquisition of a 30% stake in the Shafag-Asiman gas field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea by Türkiye Petrolleri (TPAO) will be a significant contribution to strengthening Türkiye's energy security, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said, Report informs.

According to the minister, the partnership within the framework of this project will bring strategic cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan in the energy sector to a qualitatively new level.

"The entry of our national oil company TPAO into the Shafag-Asiman project with a 30% stake is an important step that will both strengthen Türkiye's energy security and make a significant contribution to the development of regional cooperation," Bayraktar wrote on X.

An agreement was signed today as part of the Baku Energy Week to provide TPAO with a share in the Shafag-Asiman gas field development project. The company is a partner of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the British company BP with a 30% stake.
