Baku. 7 February. REPORT.AZ/ "Aftershocks of the earthquake that occurred on February 5 at 23:25 and 23:31 in Shamakhi-Ismayilli region, continue," Gurban Yetirmishli, head of the Republican Seismological Service Center under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences said.
Report informs that he said energy discharge process is underway in the territory, but general situation is stable: "There has not been any aftershock from yesterday till the morning".
Yetirmishli noted that the employees of the Seismological Service Center have been in the quake-affected area beginning February 6. "Additional stations are installed in the earthquake focus and researches are conducted. In line with the President's order, enhanced seismological work is underway in the earthquake zone."
According to the director, low magnitude earthquakes are recorded in the area: "At present, aftershocks are analyzed and their number will be publicly disclosed. In general, more than 130 tremors were recorded."
Notably, according to the information of the Republican Seismological Service Center under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, an earthquake was recorded on 05.02.2019 at 23:31 in the territory of Ismayilli district, 11 km southwest of the Pirqulu station. The 6-magnitude earthquake was recorded in the epicenter, and 5.3-magnitude in the surrounding areas.
