Protection of coastal areas and biodiversity of Caspian Sea discussed at COP29

Within the framework of COP29, a meeting was held on "Strengthening the resilience of the Caspian Sea coastal areas under climate change impacts and protecting biodiversity" with the participation of relevant experts from Caspian littoral countries, international organizations, UN agencies, and scientific researchers, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

It was stated that the purpose of the event is to develop regional cooperation on preventing pollution of the Caspian Sea, protecting biodiversity, and eliminating the effects of climate change on the Caspian Sea ecosystem.

The parties emphasized the importance of protecting the Caspian Sea's biodiversity, its role in climate regulation, and its significant role in economic activities, including fishing, transportation, and energy production.

Experts put forward proposals for cooperation to solve the Caspian's ecological problems and ensure sustainable management in the future.
