Nigar Arpadarai: One of main goals of climate-related activities was to attract private sector

One of the main goals of climate-related events was to involve the private sector in this field, Nigar Arpadarai, COP29 High-Level Champion for Climate Change, said at the "Industrial Safety Summit" held in Baku, Report informs.

Arpadarai stated that Azerbaijan's hosting of an event like COP29 arises from the trust shown in the country:

"Fighting climate change is an issue that concerns everyone. As COP29 presidency, we have put forward 14 initiatives covering all areas. One of the main goals here was to involve the private sector in Azerbaijan. We also hosted the Baku Climate Week. During these events, we felt great interest from the private sector.

As a result, 11 companies came together and signed a declaration. This includes logistics, technology companies, and others. If we're talking about transitioning to a green economy, we must also consider the risks. The name of this event was specially chosen. We applaud this event held under the name 'Towards Zero'."
