Colonial powers pollute the environment of small states whose territories they control, UN expert Dr. Carlyle Corbin said at the session titled "Eco-colonialism: The Environmental Legacy of Colonial and Neo-colonial Exploitation" held by the Baku Initiative Group on the sidelines of COP29, Report informs.
According to Corbin, countries suffering from colonialism are exploited by larger states due to their lack of political self-governance:
"Small countries cannot manage their internal affairs and are subject to the dictates of large countries. This manifests itself in the destruction of the economy and environmental pollution."
