Hosting the Conference of the Parties (COP) can help countries in the region accelerate their efforts to combat the consequences of climate change, according to Katja Dörner, the Mayor of Bonn, Germany.
Report informs that in a video address to the participants of the Baku Climate Week on Monday, she emphasized the long-lasting positive impact that hosting a similar conference had on her city.
"I sincerely hope that COP29 in Baku will inspire cities and regions of Azerbaijan, Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Central Asia to make commitments towards climate neutrality, intensify efforts to ensure preparedness for climate disasters, and strengthen multi-level actions and changes in line with national climate plans," she stated.
