The Return Concept of the Western Azerbaijan Community (WAC), prepared in seven languages, was presented to high-ranking officials at the fourth edition of the UNESCO Global Forum against Racism and Discrimination in Barcelona, Spain, the community told Report.
MP Malahat Ibrahimgizi, Chair of the Women's Council, represented Azerbaijan at the forum held on December 9 to 11.
In a session titled Women's Leadership: For Gender-Based Sustainable Societies, Ibrahimgizi spoke on the topic of Empowering Refugee Women for Sustainable and Tolerant Societies.
The MP provided information about the state policy, legal framework, women's participation in socio-economic projects, and the development of women's entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan. She also noted that international organizations have shown indifference to the 300,000 Azerbaijanis deported from their historical lands in Armenia between 1987-1991, as well as to Azerbaijani refugee women.
Emphasizing the importance of a peaceful and dignified return of Azerbaijanis to Western Azerbaijan, Ibrahimgizi highlighted the need for educating refugee women about their right to reintegration. She stressed the great need for support and cooperation from international organizations like UNESCO in implementing the Return Concept of the Western Azerbaijan Community.
During the forum, MP Ibrahimgizi held bilateral meetings with high-ranking UNESCO officials and presented them with the Return Concept prepared in seven languages.
