Western Azerbaijan Community demands that Human Rights Watch stop supporting Armenia's policy of ethnic cleansing

The Western Azerbaijan Community (WAC) demands that Human Rights Watch and its backing forces stop using human rights as a political tool and cease supporting Armenia's ethnic cleansing policy, reads the Community's statement, Report informs.

WAC notes that Human Rights Watch, which calls itself a human rights defender, has published its annual report on the global human rights situation: "In the section concerning Azerbaijan, along with numerous slanderous statements, the issue of creating conditions for the return of departed Armenians is raised. However, in the section about Armenia, there is not a word about the return of Azerbaijanis expelled from there."

The Community believes this represents ethnic and religious discrimination against the Azerbaijani people by Human Rights Watch: "Racial discrimination is unacceptable. When such discrimination is carried out by organizations positioning themselves as human rights defenders, it deals a double blow to human rights. In particular, we remind that shortly before this report's publication, a speech by former Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosyan was circulated, confirming that ethnic cleansing against Western Azerbaijanis was Armenia's state policy, and we sent a special appeal to Human Rights Watch regarding this matter."
