Sabuhi Gahramanov: Armenians secretly destroyed natural resources, resorting to ecological terrorism

Armenians committed ecological terrorism in the city of Khankandi, as well as in the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, secretly destroying natural resources, Sabuhi Gahramanov, Deputy Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Khankendi, Aghdara and Khojaly districts, said during a meeting of the Working Group on Environmental Issues of the Interagency Center in Khankandi.

Report quotes him as saying that during the occupation, Armenians plundered natural resources in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan: "Serious damage was inflicted on natural monuments, reserves, forest massifs, and biodiversity, and agricultural lands were rendered unusable."

Gahramanov added that during the Armenian occupation, active exploitation of mineral deposits, deposits of non-ferrous and ferrous metals, mineral and fresh water resources took place on the liberated territories. According to him, lands belonging to the forest fund were destroyed, and flora and fauna were systematically wiped out.

"Moreover, hundreds of thousands of buried landmines have become a serious ecological catastrophe for the residents of these areas. Currently, demining and disposal of unexploded ordnance are actively ongoing," he noted.
