Over 11,000 donor bio-samples collected in Azerbaijan for identifying missing persons

As of March 1, Azerbaijan has compiled biological samples from more than 11,000 donors in connection with 3,700 missing persons, Deputy Chief of the State Security Service (SSS), Lieutenant General Sharafat Hasanov, said during the presentation of an assessment document by the International Commission on Missing Persons.

According to Report, he noted that since 2023, the collection of biological samples has been carried out by the Genetic Research Center, established under the Main Military Medical Department of the State Security Service by order of President Ilham Aliyev.

"The center extracts and archives DNA profiles from the collected biological samples," Hasanov stated.
