At the initiative of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and with state support, an International Forum of Ombudsmen themed “Climate Change and Human Rights: The Role of Ombudspersons and National Human Rights Institutions" has been held, Report informs.
The event, conducted to discuss problems caused by global climate change, ways to solve them, and exchange positive experiences in this field, was attended by more than 60 guests from nearly 30 countries, as well as representatives of ombudsmen and national human rights institutions, high-ranking officials, representatives of civil society institutions, several international organizations, experts in climate change and human rights - in total, more than 200 participants took part in it.
At the event, the minister of justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Farid Ahmadov, read President Ilham Aliyev's address to the forum participants.
