Nearly 4,000 Azerbaijanis went missing due to Armenia's military aggression, according to an assessment report by the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) "Accounting for the Missing Persons in the Republic of Azerbaijan," Report informs.
The assessment reveals that 3,209 of the missing persons were military personnel and 774 were civilians. Of them, 3,698 were men and 285 were women. As many as 3,977 people went missing in the First Karabakh War, and six in the Patriotic War.
As noted, President Ilham Aliyev's particularly sensitive attitude to the problem of missing persons, and the important instructions he gave in this regard, have led to the acceleration of the search process and the intensive implementation of necessary measures.
