Fuad Huseynaliyev: President Ilham Aliyev's messages closely monitored in Armenia and influence political processes

President Ilham Aliyev's messages are closely monitored in Armenia and influence political processes, according to Fuad Huseynaliyev, Director of Report Information Agency.

Huseynaliyev made these insights while commenting on Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev's state visit to Türkiye and his speech at the opening ceremony of the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline, along with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The president has always stated in his speeches that Azerbaijan has no territorial claims against any state

Huseynaliyev touched upon President Ilham Aliyev's statement that Western Zangazur is Azerbaijan's historical territory: "Mr.President's purpose in expressing all this was to show the historical picture more clearly to Turkish society. The president has always stated in his speeches that Azerbaijan has no territorial claims against any state. Here, we're talking about the return of Azerbaijanis who were expelled from there in 1988 and creating conditions for them."

If Western Zangazur hadn't been transferred to Armenia, there wouldn't have been a republic called Armenia in the Soviet state

Fuad Huseynaliyev talked about the transfer of Western Zangazur to Armenia during the Soviet period:

"If this hadn't happened, there wouldn't have been a republic called Armenia in the Soviet state. As its territory was very small, the chance of getting the status of a separate republic was very low. I think the aim here was to reduce Türkiye's border with Azerbaijan, create an Armenian state between the two countries, and influence geopolitical issues."

The director also highlighted that claims about cooling in relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan have no basis.

"Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's recent statement has once again refuted these claims. It demonstrates that Azerbaijan and Türkiye remain open to collaborating on new projects and continue to act jointly in regional politics. For instance, following the establishment of the new government in Syria, Azerbaijan was one of the first countries, after Türkiye, to send humanitarian aid and engage in political consultations," he stated.

Relations between Ankara and Yerevan cannot improve without a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia,

Huseynaliyev also pointed out that Türkiye is currently waiting for relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia to improve:

“Under these circumstances, normalization of relations with Yerevan is possible. Clearly, without a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the relationship between Ankara and Yerevan cannot progress. The Turkish side has emphasized this on multiple occasions."

Report's chief also commented on the Turkish President's statement "We want peace together": "This shows once again that unless peace is established between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Armenia should not expect practical steps from Türkiye."
