The European Union's mission in Armenia, which has been extended without an agreed timeframe, continues to obstruct the process of creating lasting peace in the region by implementing "binocular diplomacy," Ulviyya Zulfigar, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Western Azerbaijan Community, told Report.
Zulfigar noted that the mission damages the normalization process between the two countries by provocatively observing Azerbaijani territories with binoculars:
"The mentioned mission, while being aware of the effects created by 'binocular diplomacy,' deliberately continues these actions, clearly demonstrating that its intention is not at all to create peace in the region. Moreover, the EU mission, despite knowing that the lands it stands on were once areas where Western Azerbaijanis lived compactly and were massively expelled during the last deportation of 1987-1991, has not once expressed an opinion or stated a position on this matter."
Zulfigar once again called on the EU mission to refrain from such actions that hinder peace and not to remain indifferent to the process of Western Azerbaijanis' return.
