Eight Azerbaijani citizens, including 5 children and 3 women, who traveled to the conflict regions of the Syrian Arab Republic on May 14, 2024, were repatriated as a result of phased and coordinated measures taken by the government of Azerbaijan, Report informs via Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The location, identity and citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan of the repatriates were determined.
Later, representatives of relevant state institutions responsible for the repatriation of Azerbaijani citizens from Iraq and Syria were sent to the Republic of Türkiye, and preliminary medical and psychological examination of the repatriates was ensured.
"Our citizens were provided with certificates of return to the Republic of Azerbaijan by the Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the city of Istanbul of the Republic of Türkiye and they were brought to the country,” the information said.
It is planned to implement relevant measures in the direction of social rehabilitation and social reintegration of the repatriates.
The government of Azerbaijan will continue to take necessary measures for the repatriation of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who have become victims of armed conflict on the territory of foreign countries.
