Facebook pages fueling hybrid attacks on Azerbaijan from neighboring state

The Milli Majlis Commission on Countering External Interference and Hybrid Threats announced that hostile activities against Azerbaijan are continuing via Facebook, orchestrated by one of the neighboring states.

According to Report, several pages — including Echo of Baku, Azeri Horizon, Xəbər24, Merry you, Azerbaijan Pulse, Az insight, and others — are being used for deliberate attempts to interfere in Azerbaijan’s information space through the platform, aiming to distort public opinion and discredit the country’s successful domestic and foreign policy.

The commission noted that after the publication of geopolitically manipulative content in the Azerbaijani language on Facebook, users are redirected to platforms like Telegra.ph, which can lead to the collection of their personal data (such as IP addresses, device information, etc.).

“We inform our citizens that necessary measures are being continuously implemented against such information operations in coordination with the relevant state authorities. At the same time, we emphasize that as a result of appeals to Meta, several pages acting against Azerbaijan have been taken down. The Commission on Countering Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats urges citizens to remain vigilant, not to believe such content, and stay informed about the methods and tools of hybrid threats being used against our country,” the statement said.
