Azerbaijan spent $22.2M to safeguard national interests in international arena in 2024

In 2024, Azerbaijan allocated 37.8 million manats (approximately $22.2 million) to protect its national interests in the international arena, according to the bill "On the Implementation of the State Budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2024," presented at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship.
Report informs that these funds were directed toward legal representation in international courts, defense of Azerbaijan’s interests within the framework of international law, and payment for the enforcement of international court decisions.
Additionally, 20 million manats ($11.76 million) were spent on emergency response measures, while 7.6 million manats ($4.47 million) were allocated to cover utility expenses and mandatory social insurance contributions in the liberated territories for a 10-year period.
A further 4.8 million manats ($2.82 million) supported international donor initiatives via the Azerbaijan International Development Assistance Agency (AIDA), helping to align Azerbaijan’s foreign aid efforts with its broader diplomatic objectives. Moreover, 13.7 million manats ($8.1 million) were used to cover housing rental expenses for retired or reserve military personnel.
