Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission approves candidacy of Ilham Aliyev for presidential elections

Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) has approved the candidacy of the current head of state, Ilham Aliyev, for the presidential election, Report informs referring to a statement by CEC Secretary Arifa Mukhtarova.

She noted that the decision was made following today’s meeting of the commission.

Early presidential elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for February 7, 2024.

A decision to nominate Ilham Aliyev for the presidential election was made on December 15, at an extended meeting of the board of the New Azerbaijan Party.
