Armenian resident of Karabakh: I still keep photos with my friends from Baku

“I believe that Mikhail Gorbachev became the cause of enmity between the two peoples,” Slava Usebyan, Armenian resident of Karabakh, told Report’s correspondent sent to Lachin.

Usebyan said that he always had good relations with the Azerbaijanis, they shared bread and salt together: “I lived in Khankandi, as well as in Baku. I graduated from high school in Baku. I lived in the ‘Montin’ settlement. We shared bread with the Azerbaijanis, we had very good relations. God willing, this will all resume. I left Khankandi, leaving two houses there. I worked as a deputy chief in the fire department. I still keep photos with my friends from Baku. The Armenians think that I was detained here. However, I passed through [the border checkpoint] very calmly, without any pressure.”
