On behalf of the Azerbaijani community, a statement was adopted on the humiliating attitude towards the statue of Khurshidbanu Natavan in France, Report informs.
According to the statement, the representatives of literature, culture, art, and science of Azerbaijan, as well as representatives of civil society, consider the treatment shown against the statue of Khurshidbanu Natavan in Evian-les-Bains, France, by order of the Elysée Palace unacceptable and value the closing of the monument as an insult to Azerbaijani culture.
"The disgrace that happened in the city of Evian-les-Bains clearly shows the extent of Azerbaijanophobia, Turkophobia, and Islamophobia in the French government. We strongly condemn the use of literature, art, and culture as a tool for dirty political games.
"We call on the French authorities to remove the shame associated with Natavan's statue and to restore the deleted words ‘Azerbaijan Garden’ on the plaque placed in that park.”
