Shusha showed what is possible when history is honored, leadership is visionary, and the Islamic world is united through culture, knowledge, and spirit, ICESCO Director General Salim M. Al Malik said at the closing ceremony of "Shusha - Cultural Capital of the Islamic World" for 2024.
Report quotes him as saying Shusha has become a symbol of cultural dignity, a beacon of Islamic creativity, and living proof of what peoples can achieve when they step into their past with pride and into their future with confidence:
"From the first day Shusha was declared the Cultural Capital of the Islamic World by ICESCO, it took its place and developed, but more importantly, it redefined its leadership in cultural excellence."
He underlined that Shusha accepted this title as a torch.
"Dear Shusha, we are not closing this celebration. But we are opening a new era of culture with you and your people. Thank you, Azerbaijan," he stated.
