Culture Days of Baku and Tashkent to be held in Azerbaijani, Uzbek capitals

Bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan was discussed during the meeting of acting Tashkent mayor Shavkat Umurzakov with a delegation led by Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Work with the Diaspora Fuad Muradov, Report informs referring to Sputnik-Uzbekistan.

Umurzakov congratulated the guests on the past 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, a well-known Azerbaijani political and public figure. Events in honor of this date were also held in Tashkent.

“Highlighting the progressive development of bilateral relations on the basis of documents and agreements signed at high-level meetings of the heads of the two states, he noted that there is a great untapped potential in the economy, services, culture, tourism, education and other areas. In particular, for the purposes of accelerating cultural cooperation, he proposed holding the Days of Baku in Tashkent and the Days of Tashkent in Baku,” reads the report.

In turn, Muradov highly appreciated the improvement and landscaping of Tashkent and expressed gratitude for the respect and attention to the culture of Azerbaijan, as well as to more than 40,000 Azerbaijanis living in the capital of Uzbekistan.

The parties agreed to continue the practical dialogue, develop friendly and partnership relations.
