705 historical and cultural monuments registered in Karabakh, East Zangazur

705 historical and cultural monuments have been registered in Karabakh and East Zangazur, Saadat Yusifova, the Deputy Minister of Culture, said at the Cultural Heritage Forum held for the first time in Azerbaijan, Report informs.

According to her, the analysis shows that there are many unregistered historical, archaeological, and architecturally immovable cultural heritage facilities in those areas.

"During the occupation, they were deliberately destroyed and vandalized. 47 monuments were obliterated from the face of the earth. In 2020-2022, the State Service for the Protection, Restoration, and Development of Cultural Heritage inspected 433 historical and cultural monuments, as well as unregistered ones located in those areas, and carried out monitoring of 182 newly discovered monuments," the deputy minister noted.
