Azerbaijan has integrated Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) standards into its national strategies, Vusal Shikhaliyev, head of the Monitoring, Coordination and Evaluation of Economic Reforms Sector at the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, said at a high-level roundtable on the Green Digital Action Program within COP29.
According to Report, he noted that global challenges such as social inequality, lack of sustainable financial practices, ineffective governance, and climate change require immediate solutions:
"Azerbaijan has implemented extensive legislative and institutional reforms to address these issues within the ESG standards framework. The government has achieved significant success, and many companies are already integrating ESG into their strategies. International ratings confirm Azerbaijan's successful progress in this area.
More than 30 working groups, established on the president's initiative, and about 750 specialists are actively engaged in accelerating business reforms, implementing effective management models, and developing inclusive cooperation within ESG standards."
