A panel session titled "The Role of Global and Regional Cooperation in Addressing Scientific Challenges" was held within the framework of Baku Climate Action Week.

Report informs that cooperation between scientific institutions, the private sector, and international organizations was discussed at the panel.

Robin Fears, a representative of the Inter-Academy Partnership, said that the main goal of inter-country cooperation is to find solutions: "Climate change seriously affects people's mental and physical health. The problem can be eliminated by using existing knowledge."

According to him, there is little scientific research in the Caucasus and Central Asian countries, and climate change is the most relevant topic in the healthcare field.

Stephen Davidson, a lecturer at the University of Cambridge, noted that universities should prioritize international cooperation to gain new experiences.

Anna Korr, a professor at Imperial College London, added that there should be cooperation between industrial enterprises and the academy of sciences: "Sometimes universities simply sign documents. Problems persist when there is no cooperation with industrial enterprises. Climate scientists should make efforts to solve problems. Long-term programs are needed."

Ulviyya Hasanova, head of the ISESCO Department of Biomedical Materials at Baku State University, emphasized that cooperation between civil society and industry is important today for programs prepared to combat climate change. She touched upon the necessity of involving young people in the process. She also stated that they will propose a project in the blue zone at the COP29 event to be held in Baku next month.

Malini Mehra, GLOBE International Curator, said in her speech that there should be sustainable science in the field of climate change.
