Baku International Sea Trade Port (Port of Baku) aims to transform the Middle Corridor into a green corridor, Port of Baku International Relations Manager Natavan Aghayeva said at a COP29 event on transport corridors held in Baku, Report informs.
"International trade is not just about the movement of people and goods. It can also pose serious environmental problems and risks. Port of Baku plays an important role as a gateway between West and East, Asia and Europe. We have set truly ambitious goals for net-zero emissions and aim to achieve these goals by 2035. Achieving such a target in such a short time will be a first for the region. At the same time, the Port of Baku is the first in the region to receive the Green Port Certificate from the European Sea Ports Association," Aghayeva noted.
She announced that the establishment of the Caspian Research Center by the Port of Baku was declared at COP29: "This will ensure the region's synergy by combining science and business. At the same time, research on Caspian Sea problems will be conducted here and solutions will be proposed."
