NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Nick Hague have addressed the participants of the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku via video link from the International Space Station, Report informs.

They stated that natural phenomena such as fires and hurricanes indicate the ongoing changes on Earth.

"The planet changes every second, and we see this while observing from space," the astronauts said.

NASA representatives thanked COP29 participants and Azerbaijan, which is hosting the conference, for their efforts to protect the planet.

"We are grateful for the efforts to preserve the planet's beauty. Our partners and staff are ready to share information with you. Our mission is to observe sea level rise, gas emissions, and other issues from space and transmit this data to Earth," they emphasized.

The COP29 climate conference began its work in Baku on November 11 and will conclude on November 22.
