A ministerial forum on advanced green governance opened as part of COP29.

According to Report, the event was jointly organized by the State Agency for Citizen Services and Social Innovations ("ASAN xidmat"), UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and Apolitical Group Limited.

The opening ceremony featured speeches by ASAN xidmat Chairman Ulvi Mehtiyev, UN Deputy Secretary-General and ESCAP Executive Secretary Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, ICESCO Director General Salim Al-Malik, Apolitical Group Limited Executive Director Robin Scott, Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Vice President Zamir Iqbal, and others.

"Reducing carbon emissions and protecting key natural resources are crucial for ensuring environmental sustainability," emphasized ICESCO head Salim Al-Malik. He noted that ICESCO collaborates with member countries in accordance with international agreements and develops programs for water security.

UN Deputy Secretary-General Alisjahbana stated that today's forum offers an important platform for discussing and aligning ways for more productive implementation of green and digital transformation. She said digital technologies provide practical tools for climate adaptation and disaster resilience through digital solutions that increase efficiency and reduce emissions.

IsDB Vice President Zamir Iqbal noted that COP29 is a critical opportunity for global climate efforts, especially regarding climate action financing.

The forum brought together government representatives, international organizations, leading experts, and academics to promote interactive dialogue and cooperation. In total, it was attended by leaders from 7 international organizations, relevant ministries from nearly 20 countries, and representatives from various companies and research institutes.

Speakers emphasized the importance of international cooperation in expanding green technologies, developing advanced governance, and adapting public services to environmental and social sustainability.
