The UK is ready to support countries that are currently at the forefront of the climate crisis, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said at the COP29 leaders' summit, Report informs.
"At the end of September, Britain became the first G7 economy to phase out coal in accordance with the agreements reached at COP28 in Dubai. And we call on all parties to meet their ambitious goals," he said.
Starmer emphasized that the new Cabinet will continue to fulfill the commitments made by the previous government, including on climate financing.
"Today, we are launching a new mechanism on the London Stock Exchange that will help mobilize up to $75 billion in additional climate capital for different countries over the coming decades," said the prime minister.
According to the politician, protecting and ensuring the prosperity of Britain and the entire world is a national priority for the government, and all necessary measures will be taken to achieve this.
