Ermek Kenzhekhanuly: Kazakhstan prioritizes reducing methane emissions

Kazakhstan places special emphasis on reducing methane emissions as part of the fight against climate change, Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister of Agriculture Yermek Kenzhekhanuly said during the panel discussion "COP to COP Agrifood Legacies: A Key to Achieving Global Climate Goals" at COP29, Report informs.

"We are actively working on projects to restore pastures and develop organic farming as part of the Global Emission Reduction Initiative. To date, more than 4,000 farmers use solar panels, and about 100 farms have modernized their wind power systems. In addition to this, we are implementing energy-efficient greenhouses that provide high productivity with minimal environmental impact," he noted.

Kenzhekhanuly emphasized that participation in COP29 is a significant stage for Kazakhstan in developing sustainable agriculture and adapting to climate change.
