Edi Rama: Global emissions continue to rise year after year while ambitious goals are postponed

Global emissions continue to rise year after year, and ambitious goals are being postponed, while the world is experiencing increasing division and misunderstanding, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said at the COP29 leaders' summit.

According to Report, Rama noted that Albania currently receives 100% of its electricity from renewable sources and called on countries to be more responsible in climate matters.

Carbon emissions have increased in the period between the last Conference of the Parties and the current one, he said, adding that ambitious goals are being postponed again.

Meanwhile, there is increasing division and misunderstanding in the world, the Albanian PM noted.

He said this begs the question of how this affect the future of the world if major polluters continue to act as usual.

Edi Rama noted that what is happening today in Europe and around the world does not allow for optimistic forecasts.
