Chinese representative: Transition to green energy will serve to protect nature

The transition to green energy will serve to protect not only China’s population but also the region's population and nature as a whole, Hui Jing, Energy Foundation China's Senior Program Director of Strategic Communications, said during an event titled "Shared Environmental Use: Subnational Steps on Climate Change and Cultural Heritage Protection" held within the framework of COP29, Report informs.

"Our main goal is to share our country's experience in reducing carbon emissions with other countries. As a result of mechanisms implemented in fighting climate change, several state programs have been proposed in our country. The Shanghai region is an important energy center. There are coal mines here. As a result of measures implemented in this region, China aims to reach 60 percent of the country's environmentally clean energy supply level by 2030," Hui Jing noted.

Yuanfeng Wu, one of the UN Climate Change project leaders, spoke about the relevant measures taken in China:

"We are trying to implement carbon communications in various fields. We periodically conduct tree planting and nature conservation campaigns at various universities, schools, and workplaces. We believe that measures against climate change should start with prioritizing greening and green economy."
