Azerbaijani, Russian PMs discuss mutually beneficial cooperation

On November 13, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin in Baku, Report informs.

The meeting highlighted the significance of COP29, expressing confidence that the conference will make a significant contribution to international efforts in combating climate change.

The parties noted that thanks to the joint efforts and close contacts of the two countries' presidents, the high dynamics of the development of the Azerbaijan-Russia strategic partnership have been maintained. They emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit to Azerbaijan in August, as well as Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's participation in the CIS Heads of State Council meeting and the BRICS Summit in Moscow and Kazan in October, gave a good impetus to bilateral relations.

It was noted that such close contacts allow the presidents to keep the implementation of their instructions under control, as well as to identify new areas of cooperation. In this regard, mutual readiness was expressed to continue close work through government channels to implement the instructions of the heads of state.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the consistent development of trade and economic cooperation. Taking into account the growth dynamics of trade turnover, which amounted to $3.5 billion in the first 9 months of this year, a new record volume of mutual trade is forecasted for the year-end results.

The transport and transit sector was assessed as one of the main areas of cooperation. The steady increase in bilateral freight traffic was noted. The parties paid special attention to the International North-South Transport Corridor, welcoming the intensification of efforts to develop the corridor's infrastructure.

The heads of government highly appreciated the level of industrial cooperation, which covers an extensive list of bilateral projects. It was emphasized that the parties considered a number of new mutually beneficial initiatives. Satisfaction was expressed with the pace of development of cooperation in the agro-industrial complex. The continuous increase in the supply of Azerbaijani agricultural products, including fruits and vegetables, to Russia was noted. Russia's role as a reliable partner of Azerbaijan in the supply of wheat and fertilizers was also highlighted.

The sides welcomed the attention paid by Azerbaijan and Russia to the climate agenda, especially the problem of shallowing of the Caspian Sea. By order of the presidents, a bilateral working group was created and tasked with investigating the causes affecting the decrease in sea level and preparing measures to mitigate the factors contributing to further shallowing.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the traditionally high level of humanitarian interaction and interregional cooperation, welcoming the increase in cultural, scientific, and youth exchanges, as well as the growth of mutual tourist flows

Ali Asadov and Mikhail Mishustin discussed the prospects for further increasing mutually beneficial cooperation and confirmed their readiness to continue constructive work across the entire spectrum of the bilateral agenda.
