Azerbaijan, EY mull green economy transition

Azerbaijan discussed energy transition and transition to sustainable and green economy with UK's EY on the sidelines of COP29, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy.

The talks were held during a meeting between Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov and EY Global Vice Chair for Sustainability Amy Brachio.

The meeting discussed the state of the innovation ecosystem in Azerbaijan and modern challenges. Work done towards transitioning to sustainable and green economy and achieving sustainable development goals was reviewed.

Opportunities in implementing green projects, applying clean technologies, and promoting investments aligned with climate action targets were highlighted. The importance of business strategies serving sustainable development goals, promoting investments supporting environmental sustainability, and public-private partnerships was emphasized.

The parties exchanged views on sustainable economic growth in Azerbaijan, human capital development and enhancement of green skills, energy transition strategies, and priority areas for cooperation.
