Ambassador of Philippines: Baku to host COP29 at high level

“As the Philippine archipelago surrounded by waters is very sensitive to climate, we look forward to attending COP29 in Baku, hosted by Azerbaijan,” Henry Bensurto, the non-resident ambassador of the Philippines to Azerbaijan (his residence is in Ankara), told Report.

The ambassador stated that environmental issues and climate change are very important for the Philippines: "Climate changes first of all affect the islands. At the same time, I think that climate changes are of great importance not only for our country but for the whole world. That's why COP29 is a very good platform."

The Bensurto believes that thanks to this international event, Baku will focus the attention of the whole world on solving the problems.

"Baku has successfully coped with certain international events so far. I believe that Baku will host COP29, an internationally important event, at a high level. As the Philippines, we will also participate in this event and lend our support to all discussions. From this point of view, we always cooperate with Azerbaijan in coordination."
