Sharof Rakhmanov: $300M hotel being built in Tashkent with participation of Azerbaijani business

Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, is enjoying growing popularity among tourists from Azerbaijan - the city receives about 10,000 Azerbaijani guests every year, Deputy Khokim of Tashkent Sharof Rakhmanov said at the panel session "Azerbaijan - Uzbekistan: Vector of Economic Partnership", held within the IV Tashkent International Investment Forum, Report informs.

According to him, bilateral trade and economic relations are developing - about 200 enterprises with the participation of Azerbaijani capital operate in Tashkent.

"Almost the same number of our enterprises are registered in Baku. Today, our trade turnover is about $150 million. A special area of ​​cooperation is tourism. About 10,000 Azerbaijani tourists visit Tashkent every year. Almost the same number of our tourists visit Azerbaijan," he said.

The deputy khokim added that there is also cooperation between the countries in the hotel business, in particular, a hotel worth $300 million is being built in Tashkent, the construction of which is being carried out by an Azerbaijani company. Sharof Rakhmanov also emphasized that there is an agreement on the construction of national centers of Uzbekistan in Baku and Azerbaijan in Tashkent.

"Entrepreneurs of the two countries will be involved in the implementation of these projects. We are confident that these centers will become symbols of our countries and will include park areas, shopping and entertainment complexes and residential spaces," he added.
