The development of Azerbaijan's halal industry creates conditions for closer integration of the country into global markets and strengthening trade relations with Islamic countries, Zehra Zumrut Selcuk, director general of the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Center for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), said at the Azerbaijan Halal Business and Tourism Forum (AZHAB Forum), Report informs.
She noted that Azerbaijan, thanks to its strategic position and economic growth, has become one of the important economic actors in the Islamic world.
"The halal sector, in particular, has wide potential, and steps in this area are of great importance not only for the country's economy but also for the development of trade relations with the Islamic world. Holding such events increases opportunities for cooperation both in business circles and at the state level," she said.
Selçuk noted that SESRIC intends to further strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijan and is trying to create new opportunities for implementing joint projects in the halal sector: "We are ready to expand relevant training and practice programs to further maintain Azerbaijan's leadership in the halal market and increase its achievements in this area."
