In November this year, sales in Azerbaijan’s car market decreased by 10% compared to October, expert on transport issues Eldaniz Jafarov told Report.
Jafarov noted that this tendency is observed both in the primary and secondary markets:
“The situation in Azerbaijan’s car market is stable. There is no sharp decline or increase in prices. The purchasing power of our citizens is average. Citizens prefer used cars to new ones. The stability of the economy and the national currency creates conditions for a stable situation in the automotive market.”
The expert noted that the decline in sales last month does not mean a decrease in purchasing power: “This process is seasonal. Buyers prefer to purchase cars mainly in August, September and October. Then some stagnation starts in November. By the end of December, there is some recovery, especially with the onset of the new season in January-February. I think that after March the demand for cars will continue to grow.”
Dayanat Shiraliyev, who sells cars, noted that there is no demand for cars in the middle price category in the automotive market:
“Expensive cars are at the market in Badamdar. Cheap cars, the cost of which is less than 10,000 manats, are brought to the Sumgait market. That is, either very expensive or very cheap cars are sold on the market. Ford Fusion, Mercedes, Toyota produced in 2014-2015 are presented in Badamdar. Their sales are very low. There are a lot of cars on the market imported from the US, and most of them saw road accidents.”
