The XVI International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” will be held in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, from May 13 to 18, Report informs.
The goal of the forum is to strengthen trade-economic, scientific-technical, educational, social and cultural relations between Russia and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The OIC countries, including Azerbaijan, have significantly strengthened their mutual relations with Russia. Over the past year, the total turnover has increased by 30%. An important topic for the forum participants will be the interaction between Russia and Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan and Russia have vast grounds for the development of cooperation. This is, first of all, the increase in mutual trade.
In 2024, the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 10% and amounted to almost $4.8 billion. Russia is Azerbaijan's third foreign trade partner after Italy and Türkiye, as well as the largest buyer of non-oil products of Azerbaijan (34.6%). Last year, supplies of Russian products to Azerbaijan increased significantly - by 14.5% to $3.621 billion.
At the same time, the joint development of the western branch of the North-South International Transport Corridor, passing through the territory of Azerbaijan, with Russia may soon open up new prospects. This accounts for about 70% of the total cargo traffic on the corridor.
The program of KazanForum 2025 includes a meeting of the transport ministers of the participating countries and the agreement on the North-South International Transport Corridor, a conference on the development of the transport and logistics potential of the participating countries, the second International Real Estate Exhibition - International Property Market 2025, the International Fashion Industry Forum.
