Number of taxpayers in Azerbaijan rises nearly 5%

As of August 1, the number of registered taxpayers in Azerbaijan has reached 1,637,784, marking a 4.8% increase compared to the same date last year, Report informs, citing the State Tax Service.

Of the total, 86.9% are individuals, while 13.1% are legal entities and other organizations. Over the past year, the number of individual entrepreneurs grew by 4.4%, and the number of companies increased by 7.4%.

By the end of July, 198,371 commercial entities were operating in the country — an 8.1% rise year-on-year.

In the first seven months of 2025, 8,196 commercial organizations were newly registered. Of these, 88.5% had local investment and 11.5% were backed by foreign capital.

The majority of newly registered commercial legal entities were limited liability companies (LLCs), making up 91.8%. Joint-stock companies (JSCs) and cooperatives accounted for 1.1% each.

Electronic registration remains dominant: 84.6% of all commercial entities were registered online, including 96.1% of locally invested LLCs.
