Northern Cyprus proposes to hold a large-scale conference to deepen economic cooperation with the Turkic states, as well as analyze potential cooperation models, Secretary General of the Northern Cyprus Chamber of Industry Ercin Tekakpinar told Report.
He noted that the discussions can be held in Northern Cyprus: "Discussions in such a format can contribute to the development of mutual economic ties within an institutional framework."
Tekakpinar pointed out the need to deepen cooperation between the Turkic states.
He added that there is an annual trade turnover of approximately $200 billion between the Turkic states, but Northern Cyprus remains outside of it: "This makes one think. We should also be part of this system. It is important that the Turkic states recognize and know us."
The secretary general believes that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Northern Cyprus should not be limited to trade alone, but should also expand in the areas of tourism and construction: "These relations are based on the principles of mutual respect and support."
According to Tekakpinar, hundreds of Azerbaijani students are currently studying at universities in Northern Cyprus, and Azerbaijani citizens are also actively involved in the construction and trade sectors: "This creates opportunities for cooperation not only in the economy, but also in terms of cultural rapprochement."
