China is an important and growing trading partner of Azerbaijan, and the trade volume between the two countries last year exceeded $3 billion, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov told the China Global Television Network (CGTN), Report informs.
“We recorded growth in double digits and it continues. We have a permanent trade representative office in China. A number of Chinese companies are carrying out various projects in Azerbaijan. This includes renewable energy, industrial production, and cooperation in the field of industrial clusters,” he said.
“This all based on excellent political relationship, Azerbaijan supports the One China principle and that’s a very strong foundation of our relationship.”
“We have strong and existing relations with multiple partners of Azerbaijan. Our major trading partners are the European Union, China, the Russian Federation, of course Türkiye, Central Asian states, and GCC countries. That represents in a way our structure of mutual investments.
Azerbaijan is also located at the crossroads of various transport routes, and East-West, actually the shortest route that connects China to Europe and which passes through Central Asian states across Caspian and via Azerbaijan. The same is true in respect to North-South, and our geography in a way also defines our economic partnership,” he added.
