Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan mull expanding economic cooperation

Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, discussed the prospects of expanding economic cooperation between the two countries, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Economy.
According to the information, Jabbarov noted that Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan relations are continuously developing, a solid contract-legal basis is being created to expand cooperation, and economic and trade ties are strengthening. He stressed that the transport-transit area is one of the main directions of the partnership, and the established favorable infrastructure and efficient use of potential are contributing to the region's development. The minister added that the shortest and most convenient route connecting the Caucasus and Central Asia regions passes through Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan through the Caspian Sea, which makes the countries important participants in international transport corridors.
Meredov said that Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan relations are a solid impetus to the development of cooperation in various fields, including political, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and other fields, and shared his views on the expansion of the partnership.
At the meeting, the possibilities for the development of relations between the two countries in energy, investment, transport, trade, communication, and other fields were brought to the attention.
