Azerbaijan to improve control mechanisms for protected zones

Amendments are expected in the Land Code of Azerbaijan regarding control mechanisms for protected zones and land consolidation, Report informs.

This was announced at the first meeting of the Working Group on improving the Land Code.

The meeting held extensive discussions on studying and applying international experience in land management, preparing proposals for improving the code, and developing a concept.

Speaking at the meeting, Matin Eynullayev, head of the State Service on Property Issues under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, noted that it is important to regulate land relations in accordance with modern requirements and to study international experience in land management, usage control, and protection.

During the discussions, it was considered appropriate to include in the new concept of the Land Code modern challenges, especially climate change and its effects, prevention of unauthorized constructions in the country, prevention of misuse of lands, compliance with protected zones and creation of new control mechanisms in this area, as well as reflection of land consolidation.

Representatives of various government agencies participating in the meeting highlighted existing problems, legal gaps, and practical difficulties in their respective fields. Proposals were also made to increase the efficiency of cadastral registration and management of lands.
